Ten of Swords and Five of Cups

The Ten of Swords and the Five of Cups describe the first stage after a painful ending. It's the stage of grief, of mourning, which comes naturally after the loss of something or someone that played an important role in our life. The challenge that this combination will make us face is whether we'll be able to rise above the loss or dwell in the past, feeling guilty or sad about something that cannot be changed anymore. It's important to know that the Ten of Swords and the Five of Cups point to a natural and transient phase that in time will pass while acceptance and healing will take its place. However, it's really up to us to decide how much time we want to spend holding on to guilt instead of letting go in order to start the healing process.

Elemental Dignities

The elements of these cards are Air (Ten of Swords) and Water (Five of Cups). The Ten of Swords is a card of the mind, of intellect, while the Five of Cups is related to emotions. In this case the elements do not really fight each other, but they don't support each other either. However, the energies of these two cards are too intense that's why it  is common to notice extreme reactions on mental and emotional level.
